The Investment department of Stara Zagora Municipality participated in the 26th World Investment Conference (WIC), held under the theme "Investment promotion agencies shape the future of foreign direct investment" (FDI).
Over 500 high-level business and political representatives from more than 100 countries gathered to discuss key investment challenges, learn and identify practical solutions to create new business opportunities and partnerships. During the panel discussions, topics such as digitalization, sustainable investment, renewable energy, changing global supply chains and several peer sessions and inspirational talks from renowned speakers from the public and private sectors were included.
The participation of the Municipality of Stara Zagora aimed to promote the business climate in the city and the region, while at the same time discussing trends in future economic development and ways and opportunities to attract foreign capital. During the conference, a series of business engagements and opportunities for networking with other consulting organizations and investment agencies were discussed, with the aim of exchanging experience and ideas in search of potential investors.
During the official opening of the conference, Rositsa Raykova - head of the Investment department, as well as Bogdan Bogdanov, executive director of the Bulgarian Investment Agency, in an interactive session presented the opportunities for investing in Bulgaria and Stara Zagora in particular, as well as the implementation of a new integrated and digitized approach to work so as to reduce. Simplification of administrative processes was also discussed at the meeting.
Organized since 1995, the WAIPA World Investment Conference (WIC) offers formal panels, networking opportunities and social events for members. This year's agenda covered topics such as investment trends in the energy transition, building a sustainable global startup ecosystem, the opportunities and challenges of digital FDI, and changes in global supply chains and their impact on the investment climate.
