For the second consecutive year, the Municipality of Stara Zagora was awarded the prestigious prize "Municipality in Bulgaria with the Most Investments" - the award was won consecutively for the results in both 2023 and 2024. The recognition for the efforts made by Mayor Zhivko Todorov and his team materialized in the form of the "Golden Bull" statuette at a ceremony organized by the Bulgarian Investment Agency (BIA) under the Ministry of Innovation and Growth. The 19th edition of the "Investor of the Year" competition was announced last night at an official ceremony in Sofia.
The Zagore Industrial Zone was awarded the special BAI award as the first certified priority investment project; since its establishment, it has attracted investments worth half a billion.
The third prestigious award that came to Stara Zagora is “Green Investment” - it was awarded to “Smart Solar Technologies” for the investment of 240 million leva, creating 812 jobs.
The “Golden Bull” statuette was presented to Mayor Zhivko Todorov, who thanked the BAI for the recognition for making Stara Zagora attractive and appealing to investors. “I also want to thank business - the most important in this chain, because Bulgarian and foreign business that invests in our municipalities deserves respect! It is not easy to do business in today's economic situation,” noted the Mayor of Stara Zagora Municipality. He expressed his gratitude to the team he works with, to Deputy Prime Ministers Tomislav Donchev and Atanas Zafirov, to the Ministers of Regional Development and Economy for the jointly created favorable conditions. "It is very important when attracting investors that a person knows what they want in order to be able to achieve results. We know what we want - to transform the former airport in Stara Zagora into a large industrial zone together with the state and we hope that thanks to this project that we will do together, we will create new jobs next year and we will be able to get on this stage again", stated Zhivko Todorov categorically. The mayor also thanked the people's representatives for the improvements in the legislation.
"The work of Invest Stara Zagora is giving its results!", emphasized the deputy mayor with the portfolio of "Transport, Ecology, Investments and Green Transition" Radostin Tanev. "These are not just another award and an occasion to brag; this is a step towards improving the opportunities both for doing business here and for creating prospects for people. And they, they are our biggest incentive to move forward", Radostin Tanev defined.
“The government is committed to Bulgaria continuing its unwavering path along its European democratic development, reducing the regulatory burden and ensuring predictability, predictability and freedom for doing business in our country.” This opinion was also expressed by Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov during the official ceremony of the 19th annual “Investor of the Year” awards.
The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of democratic rule of law, the rule of law and low administrative intervention in ensuring a favorable business environment. Zhelyazkov also highlighted the enormous potential of our country, especially in areas with high added value. The Prime Minister thanked everyone who does business, creates jobs and invests in our country for their trust in Bulgaria.
