The international conference under the TEXAD project focused on practical solutions for reducing textile waste and managing resources sustainably. Participants had the opportunity to explore real-world examples and good practices from businesses and academia.
Presentations during the three-day forum introduced participants to TexCycle, represented by Sirma Zheleva, the company’s Head of Sustainability and Secretary General of the Bulgarian Association for Circular Textiles. She presented the company’s model for the separate collection and management of used textiles, as well as its cooperation with municipalities in establishing effective collection systems.
Professor Zlatinka Kazlacheva from the Faculty of Technics and Technologies in Yambol presented modern approaches to sustainable design and pattern cutting that enable more efficient use of materials and prevent textile waste at the product development stage.
Simeon Stoyanov also offered insights into the sector’s development, introducing participants to the work of the Bulgarian Association for Circular Textiles in promoting reuse, recycling and sustainable production practices in the textile industry.
The programme also featured Natalia AD. Tsveta Slavova, a Commercial Operations Specialist at the company, presented its activities, products and sustainable practices. The presentation served as an introduction to the subsequent company visit, during which participants saw first-hand how circular solutions are applied in textile production.
The second day concluded with an engaging interactive session in the form of an environmental game, allowing participants to exchange experience and ideas in an informal setting.
