In the category of "Most promising micro European cities of the future for 2024, which implement strategies to promote foreign investments", Stara Zagora is the only Bulgarian city in the ranking. It ranks 5th out of 10 and is the first time it falls into this category. Among those included in the category are cities from Ireland, Latvia, Bosnia and Herzegovina.
One of the reasons for the prestigious ranking of the city is the hard work of both Invest Stara Zagora and Zagore Industrial Zone, in attracting investments in recent years, as well as the launched project in which the Municipality is the beneficiary of building a comprehensive communication strategy to improve attractiveness of the city of Stara Zagora and the region as an investment destination.
Stara Zagora region climbed one place forward and took the prestigious second place in the top 10 in the category "Small European regions of the future 2024 in terms of cost efficiency". It overtook Burgas, Varna, Plovdiv and Sofia, which remain in third, fifth, sixth and seventh place.
