A total of seven factories will be developed on a single plot covering more than 30 hectares within the industrial park near the village of Elenino. This was announced by Radoslav Tanev, Executive Director of Industrial Zone Zagore AD, during a media briefing at the opening of the second phase of Zagore Industrial Zone.
These include both completed investments and projects scheduled for construction during subsequent stages of the industrial park’s development.
“The first two factories are already in place. The third will manufacture vanadium batteries. The investment exceeds EUR 20 million and will be implemented in Zagore Industrial Zone near Elenino,” Radoslav Tanev said.
The next project involves a fourth factory, for which a building permit has already been issued. Plans also include the manufacture of drones and houses using a new technology, with all production intended for export.
“We are currently negotiating with two potential investors for the remaining two plots, which cover a combined area of approximately 15 hectares. The investments exceed EUR 500 million. Negotiations are at an advanced stage, and we hope to complete the deals by the end of the year,” Tanev stated.
The Executive Director of Industrial Zone Zagore AD also highlighted the need to develop a new industrial zone on the site of Stara Zagora’s former airport, given the growing investor interest and the shortage of available land at the outset of the industrial park’s second phase.
A new solar panel manufacturing plant will also be built. The facility will be located near Elenino on a plot within the zone’s second phase. Smart Solar Technologies AD is the first investor in this phase and is undertaking one of the largest investments in the zone to date. The project is particularly significant not only because of its scale, but also because it is the first priority investment project in the Stara Zagora district.
The investment exceeds EUR 100 million and is expected to create 812 new jobs. Production will be primarily intended for export to European markets, including Germany, the Netherlands, Italy and Austria.
Another key investor is Pharmnet EAD, which will build its largest logistics facility in Bulgaria within Zagore Industrial Zone near Elenino. The project’s main objective is to establish a new high-tech logistics and warehousing complex. The investment amounts to EUR 10 million and is expected to create 30 new jobs.
The development of the Zagore – Elenino industrial park continues through the project “Development of New Economic Activities and Attraction of Investment in Zagore – Elenino Industrial Zone”, implemented in cooperation with the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works. The project has an implementation period of 24 months and falls under the “Just Transition” priority. Its main objective is to accelerate the region’s economic transformation and create favourable conditions for attracting strategic investors.
The project provides for the development of new electricity infrastructure, including the design, construction and commissioning of an electrical substation to provide the capacity required for the industrial zone’s future development.
