Deputy Mayor Radostin Tanev Presents Industrial Zone Development to the Ambassador of the Republic of Moldova

H.E. Emil Jacota, Ambassador of the Republic of Moldova to Bulgaria, saw first-hand how Stara Zagora is changing and what opportunities it offers investors during his visit to the Zagore and Zagore – Elenino industrial zones.

The Ambassador was welcomed by Radostin Tanev, Deputy Mayor of Stara Zagora. Together with Radoslav Tanev, Executive Director of Industrial Zone Zagore, Ambassador Jacota learned about the development of both zones, new manufacturing operations and the opportunities Stara Zagora offers businesses.

The visit focused on specific opportunities for partnerships between investors in Zagore Industrial Zone and Moldovan companies, as well as future joint projects between the Municipality of Stara Zagora and the Republic of Moldova.

At Zagore – Elenino, H.E. Emil Jacota saw how the area is beginning to take shape with the construction of its first factories. The new facilities include Bulgaria’s first vanadium redox flow battery manufacturing plant.

The project forms part of a comprehensive industrial complex that will also include a facility for recycling end-of-life solar panels, a solar cell manufacturing plant and a logistics centre. More than 1,000 jobs are expected to be created across these operations in the coming years.

“Every time I visit, I see how Stara Zagora is developing. This time, I was interested in seeing the industrial zones and the new manufacturing facilities. I believe there are opportunities here for future cooperation and for connections between businesses in Moldova and Stara Zagora,” said H.E. Emil Jacota.

Deputy Mayor Radostin Tanev presented the development of the industrial zones, highlighting Stara Zagora’s potential to attract manufacturing activities linked to new technologies and the green economy.

“It is important for us to show not only what we can offer, but also what is already happening. Zagore and Elenino are home to real investments, new manufacturing operations and new jobs. We want to develop this potential further through more international partnerships,” Radostin Tanev stated.

Stara Zagora’s industrial zones have established infrastructure, including roads, electricity, water and gas supply. The municipality assists investors with administrative and permitting procedures, including through its fast-track mechanism. The city’s other advantages include its strategic location, proximity to the Trakia motorway and access to three airports.

The results of recent years also demonstrate the interest in Stara Zagora as an investment destination. For the third consecutive year, the municipality has been recognised by the InvestBulgaria Agency under the Ministry of Innovation and Growth as the municipality with the most investments. In 2025, investments attracted to the municipality totalled EUR 300 million, with 1,816 new jobs planned.

H.E. Emil Jacota’s visit builds on discussions initiated with the Municipality of Stara Zagora in March about opportunities for cooperation and investment projects in both directions between Stara Zagora and Moldova. This time, the visit took place on-site at Zagore and Zagore – Elenino, where the Ambassador explored the zones’ development and new manufacturing facilities.

“Stara Zagora is already recognised as Bulgaria’s green hub. It brings together investment, technology and people with a vision for the future. Our task is to translate this potential into even more tangible investments, new manufacturing operations and jobs. We want Stara Zagora to be a place where businesses find not only a favourable environment, but also opportunities to grow, create and stay. Because when we invest in development, we invest in the future of the entire region,” Deputy Mayor Radostin Tanev stated.
