The deputy mayor participated in the annual local authorities meeting and was a speaker in a panel dedicated to the development and future of industrial zones
The success of the “Zagore Industrial Zone” industrial park, recognized by the Bulgarian Investment Agency and the Ministry of Economy, is another achievement and the result of significant efforts by the team of Stara Zagora Mayor Zhivko Todorov. This was highlighted today by Deputy Mayor Svetoslav Kolev during his speech at one of the panels of the annual local authorities meeting, held over three consecutive days at the Albena resort complex. The event has been organized by the National Association of Municipalities in the Republic of Bulgaria (NAMRB) since 2002 as part of the celebrations of Bulgarian Municipality Day on October 12.
“When we talk about success, we cannot overlook one of the key investment projects taking place in the ‘Zagore Industrial Zone’ industrial park — namely that of Smart Solar Technologies, a company awarded the ‘Golden Bull’ in the ‘Greenfield Investment’ category, as well as SUNOTEC, a European leader in photovoltaic power plant construction contributing to the green energy mix in Europe, Africa, and the Middle East. With these key projects, the industrial park in Elenino is already positioned as a ‘green industrial hub’ at the very beginning of its development,” stated Stara Zagora’s Deputy Mayor for Finance.
He also mentioned to his colleagues the municipality’s recent awards from Kmeta.bg in the categories “Investment and Growth” and “Smart City” as further proof of the accomplishments achieved.
Deputy Mayor Kolev noted that over 90% of the Zagore-Elenino Industrial Zone has already been sold. “The Municipality of Stara Zagora is now looking at the next stage, and we need land parcels larger than 100 decares. This will allow the creation of a new zone, which we will develop in cooperation with the state and through securing various projects, providing all the necessary infrastructure,” Kolev explained.
The annual local authorities meeting is the largest event in Bulgaria focusing on local policies and trends in local governance. Every October, it gathers more than 800 representatives from local and central authorities, business, academia, partner organizations, and international guests with a key role in improving municipal management, transformation, and development.
