BULGARIA'S ONLY GROUND STATION FOR SATELLITE INTERNET IS BEING BUILT IN STAR ZAGORA

Certificate class B was presented by the mayor of Stara Zagora Zhivko Todorov to the CEO of Vivacom Bulgaria EAD, part of United Group, Nikolay Andreev. The company is a partner of OneWeb - one of the world's leading providers of satellite Internet, and the implementation of this project will put Stara Zagora on the world map of space technologies and communications.
As a result of the joint efforts of the "Investments" department and "Vivacom Bulgaria" EAD, we managed in a short period to finalize the process of issuing a class B certificate, according to the municipal ordinance for the promotion of investments.
Many are the economic benefits of the project, which is implemented at the site of "Vivacom Bulgaria" EAD on the territory of the Stara Zagora municipality. With it, the telecommunications company will not only provide additional jobs in the region in the next 10 years, but will also put Stara Zagora on the world map of space technologies and communications, it became clear during the event.
Vivacom will invest nearly BGN 1.5 million in the ground infrastructure and equipment of its technological site, and OneWeb's investment in specialized equipment amounts to several million dollars. The ground station will consist of 18 antennas and a mini data center that will connect OneWeb satellites to the Bulgarian optical network and data centers. Construction is expected to be completed within the first quarter of 2023.
