This is the largest investment in the Industrial Zone, the shareholders of which are "National Company of Industrial Zones" EAD and the Municipality of Stara Zagora.
The Government approved a Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of the Republic of Bulgaria and "Smart Solar Technologies" AD for the implementation of a priority investment project for the construction of a new Plant for the production of solar panels and cells. Priority is given to investment projects that are particularly significant for the economic development of the Republic of Bulgaria or for the regions of the country in accordance with the Investment Promotion Act.
The enterprise will be built near the village of Elenino, Stara Zagora municipality, on land that is part of the second stage of the "Zagore Industrial Zone".
The investment is for over BGN 240 million and is expected to create 812 new jobs, which will lead to an improvement of the investment climate in the city and to the realization of sustainable and inclusive growth in the region.
The production produced at the plant will be mainly intended for export to the European markets - in Germany, the Netherlands, Italy and Austria.
Smart Solar Technologies AD is the first investor in the second stage of the Zagore Industrial Zone, and this is the largest investment in the Industrial Zone to date. The investment is extremely important, not only because of its size, but also because it is the first priority investment project in the Stara Zagora region and is of great importance for the region. Shareholders in the company "Industrial Zone Zagore" JSC are "National Company Industrial Zones" EAD and the Municipality of Stara Zagora.
The creation and management of industrial parks and zones is a new push towards sustainable and inclusive growth at local, regional and national levels. With the possibility of developing local business and attracting more foreign investments, with a focus on production or modern technologies, the Zagore Industrial Zone can be defined as a successfully developing project in partnership between the state and the municipality.
